The Delta Awards: 50 Years of Design 1960 - 2010
In the second half of this century, design has gone from being of interest to an elite and select group of people, to become ubiquitous in the daily life of everyone. It has gone from being an activity that was often overlooked by the industrial context of its period, to becoming an indispensable part of the competitive business world.
To pay tribute, the best products in Spanish industrial design have been gathered together for The Delta Awards: 50 years of Design, from 1960 to 2010. The exhibit will open on October 6th, in Barcelona’s Palau Robert.
Of the 135 pieces that form part of this collection, 48 were donated by the Museu de les Arts Decoratives – Disseny Hub Barcelona, including the Impala Motorcycle(Delta d’Or 1962) and the Lettera 36 Typewriter(Delta d’Or 1970).
The exhibition was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Museu de les Arts Decoratives – DHUB and ADI-FAD (Association of Industrial Design for the Promotion of Decorative Arts), and had its origens in an agreement that was signed in 1995. Thanks to this prestigious historic archive, the Delta Awards will be administered by the Museum, in order to guarantee their preservation.
If you’d like to know more about these classic objects of Spanish industrial design, and the great names behind them, you’ll have time to get to know them starting this Wednesday October 6th until June, 2011.
