Designed to Win
Design has always played an important role in sports, not only in regards to the esthetics of a product, but also in regards to its functionality (increase speed, be more aerodynamic) and to help athletes beat their own records.
Coinciding with the Olympic Games happening in London, the exhibition Designed to Win at the Design Museum highlights the moments in sport history when design played a major role. The show analyzes these changes from various perspectives: security, performance, fashion, new materials and technology.
At the exhibition you can view movie clips, photographs and models with interactive screens, sporting equipment and chronologies. The exhibition also hopes that we not only reflect on how design can influece sports but how sports have influenced design, art and culture.
