Publication of the book, Select J Graphic Design from Spain
Next October marks the publication of Index Book, a book that is the fruit of a collaboration of various Spanish designers to choose the best works in design for 2010. The meeting took place on March 23rd at the DHUB and the Museu Picasso and the finalists were chosen from over 1,300 submissions entered into the competition that Select Graphic Design from Spain has been organizing each year, since 2002.
The idea of the project, Select J Graphic Design from Spain, is to create a book, in the style of an annual, of the best Spanish designs in three categories, graphic design, new media and schools. For each section there is a series of judges that are devoted to and come from various design backgrounds.
For the graphic design section we find Verónica Fuerte of Hey Studio, Daniel Morales of Moruba, Àngel García of Artimaña, Alberto Rodríguez d'Stereoplastika, and Alejandro Benavent of d(x)i Studio, all experts in various areas of design including; packaging, corporate design and design in cultural fields. The new media division included Lucas Elliot of Boolab, Sergio del Puerto of Serial Cut, and Joaquín Urbina and Lorena Medina of No-Domain, all artists in animation, motion graphics and 3D. And finally in the schools section we find Isabel Novoa, of la Escuela de Artes Visuales de Jerez, Jesús Santos of IED de Madrid and Tània Costa d'Eina.
A book that not only includes a selection of the best works, but is a space to share ideas, knowledge and common spaces for design in Spain.
