Making history a little more accessible

They are not new books. In fact, they are quite the opposite - some are more than 400 years old. The majority of the documents that make up the heritage or historical collection of the DHUBdoc have been around for a long time but, starting now, they will available to the research community.

Thanks to a grant from the Biblioteca de Catalunya, the DHUBdoc has catalogued its entire historical library, a total of 1,710 volumes published between the 16th century and the first decades of the 20th.

The collection can be consulted at DHUBdoc's bibliographic catalogue and using the following catalogues:

- Catàleg Col·lectiu de les Universitats de Catalunya (CCUC)

- Catàleg Col·lectiu del Patrimoni Bibliogràfic de Catalunya

Very soon you'll also be able to make consultations using the Catálogo Colectivo del Patrimonio Bibliográfico

Regarding their origin, 71.3% of the catalogued documents listed (1,219) come from the reserves of the biblioteca del Museu Tèxtil i d'Indumentària de Barcelona; 16.2% come from the old library of the Gabinet de les Arts Gràfiques and 6.7% from the Museu de les Arts Decoratives.

The uniqueness of this reserve and the value that it brings to the research community is that 37% of the books in this historical collection have not been found in any other heritage library - not in Catalonia, nor in the rest of the country. Much of this uniqueness comes from the excellent bequest of textile books made by the Comtessa de Vilardaga (1967).
